Personal Loans

For a major purchase, a planned expense or another eligible personal purpose.

We compare options around the amount, the term and the repayment structure, then prepare a complete application so the lender can assess it on the right basis.

Personal loans are assessed on income, existing commitments and credit history. Where the purpose allows it, a secured option can change the rate and the term available to you — we set out both so you can compare properly.

What this typically includes

  • Secured or unsecured options

  • Fixed repayment schedule

  • Extra repayments where the loan allows

  • Terms matched to the purpose

FAQ

Personal Loans questions

Is a secured or unsecured personal loan better?

It depends on the purpose and on what you are willing to offer as security. A secured loan generally prices better and can allow a longer term, but it puts an asset at risk. An unsecured loan is simpler and faster, at a higher rate. We compare both against your situation.

How quickly can a personal loan be funded?

It varies by lender and by how complete the application is. Straightforward applications with full documentation can move quickly; anything requiring additional verification takes longer. We tell you what the realistic timeframe is before you apply.

Can I get a personal loan with impaired credit?

It depends what is on the file and how recent it is. Some lenders will consider applicants with past defaults where the current position is stable. If a personal loan is not realistic right now we will say so, rather than lodging an application that adds an enquiry and damages the file further.

What can a personal loan be used for?

Common purposes include vehicles, home improvements, medical or education costs, travel, and consolidating other debts. Some purposes are excluded by particular lenders, so we confirm yours is eligible before lodging anything.

Will applying affect my credit score?

An initial discussion and document review do not. A formal application involves a credit enquiry, which is recorded on your file — we explain that before proceeding, and we avoid lodging with lenders whose policy your situation does not fit.

Can I pay the loan out early?

Usually yes, though some fixed-rate loans carry an early repayment cost. We check the exit terms before you commit, because a loan you intend to clear early should be chosen on different criteria to one you will run to full term.
